(1) The spatial distribution of TDS depicted on the map represents the mean values based on measurements collected during field surveys conducted in 2022 and 2024.

(2) According to the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) and the United State Environmental Protection Agency (US EPA), the permissible limit for Total Dissolved Solids (TDS) in drinking water is 500 mg/L. However, the World Health Organization (WHO) recommends a TDS level of less than 300 mg/L for drinking water. Also, TDS should be less than 500 mg/L for supporting aquatic life as per US EPA.
